Evolving Into a City Girl

Do you ever have one of those moments when you look around and realize how lucky you are? I was at Stock and Barrel the other night and had one a “lightbulb” moment - I am so fortunate to live in Dallas, especially in Oak Cliff.

When one of my friends was trying to convince me years ago to move from Highland Park to Oak Cliff I thought she was crazy. I worked, shopped and was socially involved in the Highland Park area, but every day it was getting more expensive to live there.  I had always dreamed of living in a loft space but wanted a garden as well, so when I discovered The Home Idea Factory and saw that I could have it all, of to Oak Cliff I went. One of the best decisions I have ever made. Fifteen years later, lots of others have followed me and now we have some of the finest restaurants, shops, galleries, and outdoor spaces in Dallas - maybe even in the country.

The diversity of my neighborhood is a huge draw to me as well - everyone is welcome. I have my garden, but Oak Cliff now has it’s own farmers market as well.

As much as I love to cook, being able to call a friend and meet at one of our favorite local restaurants and be treated like family is pretty awesome. The biggest problem we have is there are so many great choices, some days it’s hard to make a decision!

City living was the perfect choice for me, and I am so glad that I chose Oak Cliff and The Home Idea Factory to call home.
